How to Keep Your Gadgets Safe While on an Adventure Trip

Taking an adventure trip can be amazing fun, full of excitement and adrenaline. The challenge is keeping your gadgets safe during this trip. There are so many ways in which your gadgets could be compromised – pickpockets, you drop it in a river, canyon, from a moving vehicle, and so on.

You could just leave without any of your gadgets and go completely off grid, but that may not be such a good idea, especially if you’re going on an adventure trip. These gadgets help you find hotels at short notice, making sense of the local public transportation system, translating languages to help you communicate better, money transfers, GPS, etc.

So, how do you ensure that these handy little devices are protected during your adventures? Here are a few tips to help you out.

Get Some Gadget Travel Insurance

Before you do anything else, get all your gadgets insured. Most good travel insurance policies will offer gadget travel insurance which will cover your gadgets. When you’re on adventure trips, there are chances that your gadgets could be lost, stolen or damaged. However, if they are insured, it will take just a few days to have them replaced.

Do NOT Have too Many Gadgets

If you carry fewer gadgets, there are also fewer chances of damage, loss or theft. Having too many gadgets attracts attention, which means that there is a higher chance that your expensive devices could get stolen. It is also easier to lose track of them when you have too many gadgets. The best thing you can do is just keep one or two gadgets with you on your trip; usually a smartphone and a camera are enough.

Use a Simple Over-the-Shoulder Bag to Store Your Gadgets

If you are carrying a fancy bag in which you have put your gadgets, you are inviting trouble. Instead, get a non-descript over-the-shoulder bag that you can clutch in front of you in a crowded area. You can even invest in one of those anti-theft bags that are available in the market today.

Change Your Camera Strap

Nothing invites more unwelcome attention than a camera strap that advertises the brand of your camera. Change your camera strap to something low-key and non-descript, so that even if the strap hangs out of your bag, no one will pay attention to it.

Make Use of the Hotel Safe

Most hotels provide a safe in their guest rooms. So use it. Your insurance company will not cover thefts from hotel rooms if the gadgets were not kept in a safe. And if you’re going to be out the entire day participating in an adventure activity, then you don’t want to be encumbered with too much baggage.

These ideas may sound like overkill, but remember those devices you have can cost a pretty penny when you add it all up. And don’t forget, all people are not evil, you can get lucky and find a Good Samaritan who will locate your lost or stolen gadgets and return them to you.

YTB Travel – An Honest Review of Your Travel Biz

YTB Travel is an internet-based travel booking service. Because travel is a 7 trillion dollar industry, this makes it a very viable business opportunity. Stocks may be taking a dive, but make no mistake, people are still taking vacations.

So what are some things to consider with YTB travel? First, there is the cost. YTB Travel has a $500 fee to join, which, by comparative standards, is not very expensive at all. However, this only enables you to become a marketing representative, which means you can sell online travel agencies, enroll referring travel agents (RTA’s), and sponsor other reps. You can also earn commission on personal online travel agency sales, but you do not receive travel credentials and cannot sell travel. For a monthly fee of $49.95, you may now be considered an RTA, and are qualified to do all of the above, including book travel and receive commissions on all travel bookings. This is done trough your personal website.

Beyond this, YTB travel has levels of earning, which all depend on how many people you sponsor into this company. It starts with three people. You must sponsor three people, and then you are qualified to earn 50% commission on their sales. This is considered the 1st team. Your first team is not complete until you have 6 active RTA’s either sponsored by you or members of your first team.

Now you qualify for the power team. This is only accomplished when every one you now sponsor gets their own 1st team completed. As you can see, it is becoming confusing, and you will ultimately need 40 people in this equation to earn the power team commission, which is $50 for direct sales, and $50 for power team. Whoopee.

Now, there is a $10,000 dream commission bonus, but hold on to your hat, you will need 100 active RTA’s in your organization to qualify. If you have never done internet marketing, this is a virtual impossibility. Just sponsoring 100 people takes time, let alone 100 people who will be active in your organization. Based on the 80-20 rule, (20 percent of the people do 80 percent of the work), you will need to sponsor 500 people for you to receive this lovely $10,000 bonus. In other words, you will never see that bonus.

Aside from this pay structure disaster, (and this is just a basic version. The actual plan outlined on their website is very complicated and virtually un-obtainable), YTB travel has major legal trouble. California is currently suing YTB travel for allegedly operating a pyramid scheme. If found guilty, YTB will face fines and restitution in excess of $25 million. More than 90 people have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau of Southern Illinois in regard to YTB travel, saying the company misled them with offers of inflated earnings. A quick check on this publicly traded company shows the stock price as of October 6 2008 to be .51, down from a yearly high in April of $4.18. The numbers speak for themselves. Stay away from this company until things are sorted out. I’m not saying they can’t come back and be better, but right now is not the time to invest in a sinking ship.

This is a review of only one company in the travel industry that is internet based, and is by no means meant to scare you off from pursuing such a venture. Quite the opposite, travel is still a booming industry and is absolutely a fantastic vehicle to start your business. If you are interested in a company that will allow you to travel year round with no restrictions, and offer you a simple, yet ingenious payplan of straight commissions of $500 and $1,000 starting with your very first sale, no other qualifications needed, then you need to look no further than Global Resorts Network.
