Make Use of the Hotel Safe

Most hotels provide a safe in their guest rooms. So use it. Your insurance company will not cover thefts from hotel rooms if the gadgets were not kept in a safe. And if you’re going to be out the entire day participating in an adventure activity, then you don’t want to be encumbered with too much baggage.

YTB Travel – An Honest Review of Your Travel Biz

YTB Travel is an internet-based travel booking service. Because travel is a 7 trillion dollar industry, this makes it a very viable business opportunity. Stocks may be taking a dive, but make no mistake, people are still taking vacations.

So what are some things to consider with YTB travel? First, there is the cost. YTB Travel has a $500 fee to join, which, by comparative standards, is not very expensive at all. However, this only enables you to become a marketing representative, which means you can sell online travel agencies, enroll referring travel agents (RTA’s), and sponsor other reps. You can also earn commission on personal online travel agency sales, but you do not receive travel credentials and cannot sell travel. For a monthly fee of $49.95, you may now be considered an RTA, and are qualified to do all of the above, including book travel and receive commissions on all travel bookings. This is done trough your personal website.

Beyond this, YTB travel has levels of earning, which all depend on how many people you sponsor into this company. It starts with three people. You must sponsor three people, and then you are qualified to earn 50% commission on their sales. This is considered the 1st team. Your first team is not complete until you have 6 active RTA’s either sponsored by you or members of your first team.

Now you qualify for the power team. This is only accomplished when every one you now sponsor gets their own 1st team completed. As you can see, it is becoming confusing, and you will ultimately need 40 people in this equation to earn the power team commission, which is $50 for direct sales, and $50 for power team. Whoopee.

Now, there is a $10,000 dream commission bonus, but hold on to your hat, you will need 100 active RTA’s in your organization to qualify. If you have never done internet marketing, this is a virtual impossibility. Just sponsoring 100 people takes time, let alone 100 people who will be active in your organization. Based on the 80-20 rule, (20 percent of the people do 80 percent of the work), you will need to sponsor 500 people for you to receive this lovely $10,000 bonus. In other words, you will never see that bonus.

Aside from this pay structure disaster, (and this is just a basic version. The actual plan outlined on their website is very complicated and virtually un-obtainable), YTB travel has major legal trouble. California is currently suing YTB travel for allegedly operating a pyramid scheme. If found guilty, YTB will face fines and restitution in excess of $25 million. More than 90 people have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau of Southern Illinois in regard to YTB travel, saying the company misled them with offers of inflated earnings. A quick check on this publicly traded company shows the stock price as of October 6 2008 to be .51, down from a yearly high in April of $4.18. The numbers speak for themselves. Stay away from this company until things are sorted out. I’m not saying they can’t come back and be better, but right now is not the time to invest in a sinking ship.
